Brit Milah: Jewish Ritual Circumcision

" Such shall be the covenant between Me and you and your offspring to follow which you shall keep: every male among you shall be circumcised."

- Genesis 17:10

It would the distinct pleasure of Dr. Shefrin to welcome your baby boy into the convenant of Abraham, G-d and the Jewish People.

Dr. Shefrin trained with Rabbi Mark Cooper of Hebrew Union College and Rabbi Eytan Kenter of Kehillat Beth Israel (Ottawa). He is a member of the National Organization of American Mohellim and Mohellim of Ontario. He is pleased to offer Brit Milah services to any Jewish family provided, at least,  the mother is Jewish and the family intends to raise their child Jewish. Other circumstances can be discussed as they arise with clergy.

Brit Milah is performed in the 8th day of life, including birth. It is important to note that according to the Hebrew Calendar a day begins at sundown.

A Brit Milah cannot be held earlier than the 8th day of life. It may be held later for several reasons (scheduled C-Section on a Saturday, medical reasons, mohel availability).

It is preferable to notify Dr. Shefrin of an impending birth of a baby boy or as soon after the birth so that plans can be made.

Dr.  Shefrin is able to perform the whole Brit Milah ceremony or he is happy work with the Rabbi or spiritual leader of your choosing.

Rates for Brit Milah are different then for non-ritual circumcisions. Please discuss rates with Dr. Shefrin.

Specific questions can be addressed to Dr. Shefrin.
